ALUM CREEK BASS CLUB MEMBERS
 

ARTICLE I   NAME AND PURPOSE

 

Section  1:  This Chapter shall be called the Alum Creek Bass Club.

 

Section  2:  The purpose of this Chapter shall be to stimulate awareness of bass fishing as a major sport: to offer our state conservation department our organized moral and political support and  encouragement; to promote full adherence to all conservation codes and to demand adequate water standards; to detect and report any polluter and call public and political attention to his crime; to improve our skills as bass anglers through a fellowship of friendly exchange of  ideas and techniques; and to promote and encourage youth fishing and a love for this great recreation.
 

ARTICLE II   MEMBERSHIP

 

Section  1:  This Chapter shall have a limit of thirty (30) active members.

 

Section  2:  To become an active member of this Chapter, a person must be at least sixteen (16) years of age at the time of application; must voluntarily express genuine interest in membership; be a member of BASS ANGLERS SPORTSMAN SOCIETY and be affirmed by three-fourths (3/4) of the active membership voting at a regular Chapter meeting.

 

Section  3:  Active member dues shall be fifty-five dollars ($55) per year payable by the October club meeting. A twenty-five dollar ($25) late fee will be assessed for those members paying dues after October 15. Failure to pay dues by November 1 shall result in automatic discontinuance of membership. All new members shall be assessed a $25 initiation fee (except youth and previous club members). A new member’s dues and initiation fee must be paid within 1 (one) month of acceptance into chapter. The club officers’ and Webmaster’s dues shall be thirty dollars ($30) per year.

 

Section  4:  Each active member is expected to participate in Chapter activities, including meetings, youth and environmental projects and the annual open tournament.

 

Section  5:  Any active member may request associate membership. Associate members shall pay dues of ten dollars ($10) and may participate in all Chapter functions. An associate member shall not be listed on the official Chapter roster; shall not vote or hold office and shall not be counted in Chapter tournament standings. An associate member may be granted active membership, regardless of the number of active members at that time, upon paying active membership dues.

 

Section  6Any newly confirmed member who has fished any club tournament in that point year, will only be credited points earned from the meeting at which they were presented as a potential member.
 

ARTICLE III   OFFICERS, DUTIES AND ELECTIONS

 

Section  1.  The officers of the Chapter shall be the President who shall preside over all meetings and direct all official Chapter business, appoint committee chairmen and supervise all Chapter functions; the Vice President shall serve as chairman of all tournament committees (club and open), assist the president in his duties and preside in the absence of the president. The Secretary shall maintain accurate minutes of all Chapter meetings and maintain a regular liaison between the Chapter and the BASS ANGLERS SPORTSMAN SOCIETY (B.A.S.S.). The Treasurer shall maintain accurate financial records, receive and disperse funds as directed by the Chapter and/or by the agreement of all elected officers.

 

Section  2:  The nominations of officers shall take place at the September meeting and their election shall occur at the October meeting. Each active member in attendance is entitled to one vote.

 

Section  3:  The term of office shall be for one year beginning on January 1 following the election.

 

Section  4:  In the event that an office becomes vacant, nominations and elections shall be held to fill the unexpired term of the vacant office.

 

Section 5:  To be eligible to hold office, a member must have been an active member of the Chapter for six months (6) and have shown an interest in all Chapter functions.

 

Section 6:  The officers shall meet in February of each year to review Chapter by-laws and tournament rules and propose any new changes at the next scheduled Chapter meeting.

 

ARTICLE IV   STANDING COMMITTEES

 

The standing committees of the Chapter shall be as follows:

 

(a) The Executive Committee will consist of the officers of the Chapter. Its purpose is to coordinate the total functioning of the Chapter.

 

(b)  The Tournament Committee shall consist of 4 active members and the Vice President.  The Vice President shall chair the Tournament Committee. This committee will seek input from the active members and recommend an annual tournament schedule to the active membership for its approval. This committee will be responsible for the functioning of all Chapter tournaments and maintaining a record of the results.

 

ARTICLE V   REMOVAL FROM MEMBERSHIP

 

Section 1:  A member may be removed from membership at any time for the following reasons:

 

(a)  Failure to pay dues by November 1.

 

(b)  By any action that would reflect dishonor or disgrace on the Chapter as determined by three-fourths (3/4) of the active members at a special meeting.

 

(c) Failure to maintain membership in BASS ANGLERS SPORTSMAN’S SOCIETY.

 

ARTICLE VI   AFFILIATION

 

This Chapter shall maintain 100%  B.A.S.S. membership and submit an active membership roster to B.A.S.S. annually.
 

ARTICLE VII   AMENDMENTS

 

These by-laws may be amended at any regular meeting of the Chapter by a majority vote with at least 50 % of the total active membership present, provided the proposed amendment has been presented to the membership at least one meeting prior to the vote.
 

ARTICLE VIII   TOURNAMENT RULES, POINT SYSTEM

 

Tournament rules and point system, described in other documents, are hereby incorporated into these by-laws.
