Fish Off Rules

  1. ALL FISHING AND BOATING LAWS AND REGULATIONS OF THE STATE OF OHIO AND WATERS BEING FISHED SHALL BE    FOLLOWED.
     

  2. TOURNAMENTS SHALL START AT THE SPECIFIED TIME UNLESS DELAYED BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE. A LIVE WELL CHECK MAY BE CONDUCTED. ANY CONTESTANT ARRIVING LATE MUST FIND ANOTHER CONTESTANT AND HAVE HIS LIVE WELL CHECKED BEFORE STARTING TO FISH.  ALL CONTESTANTS (BOATER OR THE NON BOATER) MUST BE ON SHORE NO LATER THAN THE SPECIFIED TIME AT THE DESIGNATED WEIGH-IN LAUNCH RAMP.  ALL CONTESTANTS MUST CEASE FISHING AT THIS TIME. A PENALTY OF ONE (1) POUND PER MINUTE WILL BE ASSESSED FOR EACH MINUTE LATE.  CONTESTANTS MORE THAN FIFTEEN (15) MINUTES LATE WILL BE DISQUALIFIED.
     

  3. LAKE ERIE RULE: BE AT ASSIGNED RAMP AT THE START TIME, YOU MAY THEN GO TO ANY RAMP FOR PUT IN, BUT MUST RETURN AND WEIGH-IN AT ASSIGNED RAMP ON TIME.
     

  4. ANY CONTESTANT LEAVING THE TOURNAMENT SITE PRIOR TO WEIGH-IN, SHALL NOTIFY ANOTHER CONTESTANT OF HIS INTENT TO LEAVE. FAILURE TO NOTIFY ANOTHER CONTESTANT MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. A SEARCH FOR THE MISSING CONTESTANT WILL BE CONDUCTED THIRTY (30) MINUTES AFTER WEIGH-IN. 
     

  5. ALL FISHING SHALL BE DONE FROM A BOAT, IN THE WATERS DESIGNATED FOR THE TOURNAMENT. EACH BOAT SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH AN AERATED LIVE WELL AND A KILL SWITCH, WHICH MUST BE ATTACHED TO THE DRIVER WHEN THE COMBUSTION ENGINE IS OPERATING.  ALL OCCUPANTS OF THE BOAT MUST WEAR A COAST GUARD APPROVED LIFE PRESERVER (TYPE I,II,III,V) WHEN THE COMBUSTION ENGINE IS RUNNING AND THE BOAT IS OFF THE TRAILER; ANY VIOLATIONS OF THIS RULE MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
     

  6. THE WEIGHT SHALL BE RECORDED WITH A MAXIMUM OF FIVE (5) LARGEMOUTH, SMALLMOUTH, OR SPOTTED BASS.  BASS PRESENTED FOR WEIGH- IN SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF TWELVE (12) INCHES IN LENGTH OR THAT MINIMUM LENGTH REQUIRED BY THE TOURNAMENT WATERS.  ALL BASS WILL BE MEASURED ON A GOLDEN RULE WITH MOUTH CLOSED AND ANY WAY THE TAIL TOUCHES THE 12-INCH MINIMUM LENGTH MARK.  EIGHT (8) OUNCES WILL BE SUBTRACTED FROM THE TOTAL WEIGHT FOR EACH DEAD BASS WEIGHED.  NO MORE THAN FIVE (5) BASS PER CONTESTANT SHALL BE IN THE LIVE WELL AT ANY GIVEN TIME.  A PENALTY OF TWENTY (20) SEASON POINTS WILL BE ASSESSED FOR ANY BASS AT WEIGH-IN THAT MEASURES 1/8” (INCH) LESS THAN TOURNAMENT WATERS MINIMUM LENGTH. THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MEASURING AND WEIGHING FISH AT WEIGH- IN.
     

  7. A CONTESTANT SHALL FISH WITH ONLY ONE ROD AND REEL AT ANY TIME. TROLLING IS PROHIBITED. ONLY ARTIFICIAL LURES MAY BE USED, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PORK RINDS, STRIPS, ETC.
     

  8. THE TOURNAMENT STANDINGS SHALL BE DETERMINED BY THE WEIGHT OF THE FISH LESS ANY PENALTY OUNCES. SEASON POINTS SHALL BE AWARDED PER TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE.
     

  9. THE TOURNAMENT WATERS SHALL BE OFF LIMITS THE DAY OF THE TOURNAMENT EXCEPT DURING TOURNAMENT HOURS.
     

  10. EACH MEMBER MAY FISH ONLY FIVE (5) TOURNAMENTS WITH A GUEST.  EACH MEMBER MAY FISH WITH AN IMMEDIATE FAMILY MEMBER (PARENT, SIBLING, HUSBAND/WIFE OR SIGNIFICANT OTHER) AS OFTEN AS THEY DESIRE.
     

  11. SPORTSMANSHIP SHALL BE EXHIBITED AT ALL TIMES. ANY CONTESTANT EXHIBITING POOR SPORTSMANSHIP SHALL BE REPORTED TO THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE FOR ACTION WHICH MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION.
     

  12. ANY VIOLATION OF RULES 1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11  MAY RESULT IN A ONE HUNDRED (100) SEASONAL POINT REDUCTION FOR EACH VIOLATION.
     

  13. ANY INTERPRETATIONS OF THESE RULES AND REGULATIONS AND ALL RULINGS ON PROPOSED VIOLATIONS SHALL BE MADE BY THE TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE.  APPEALS MAY BE FILED WITH THE PRESIDENT, TREASURER, AND SECRETARY WHO SHALL MAKE A FINAL DETERMINATION.

  • THE ABOVE POINTS WILL BE AWARDED FOR EACH TOURNAMENT DAY FISHED, TWO DAY EVENTS WILL BE COUNTED AS ONE TOURNAMENT, TOTAL (WEIGHT) NOT POINTS FOR THE TWO DAYS WILL DETERMINE THE TOURNAMENT WINNER.

  • IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE POINT SCHEDULE, 40 SHOW-UP POINTS WILL BE AWARDED FOR EACH TOURNAMENT DAY FISHED.
     

  • EIGHT (8) OUNCES WILL BE SUBTRACTED FROM THE CONTESTANT’S TOTAL WEIGHT FOR EACH DEAD BASS WEIGHED.
     

  • TIES:  CONTESTANTS WHO TIE WILL RECEIVE POINTS FROM THE AVERAGE OF THE TIED POSITION PLUS THE NEXT LOWEST POSITION.
     

  • EXAMPLE :  IF 2 CONTESTANTS TIE FOR 3RD PLACE, THEY WOULD EACH RECEIVE 57.5 POINTS (58 + 57/2 = 57.5).  THE NEXT PLACE CONTESTANT WOULD RECEIVE 56 POINTS (5TH PLACE).
     

  • “BUDDY” TOURNAMENT SCORING :  EACH PARTICIPATING CLUB MEMBER WILL RECEIVE 40 SHOW-UP POINTS PLUS THE APPLICABLE “PLACE” POINTS EARNED BY THE “TEAM” FOR EACH TOURNAMENT DAY FISHED.
     

  • SPECIAL EVENT POINTS : 
    YOUTH EVENT :  25 POINTS FOR ˝ DAY, 50 POINTS FOR ALL DAY
    ENVIRONMENTAL EVENT :  25 POINTS
    ALUM CREEK OPEN :  25 POINTS FOR MORNING LAUNCH, 25 POINTS FOR AFTERNOON WEIGH-IN.  50 TOTAL POINTS POSSIBLE.

OPTIONAL $ 50.00/MEMBER FISH-OFF RULES (2005 SEASON) 

  • VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION
     

  • EACH PARTICIPANT PAYS $ 50.00 UP TO THE FIRST CLUB TOURNAMENT FISHED FOR THE YEAR.
     

  • REGARDLESS OF PARTICIPATION, FINAL POINT STANDINGS FOR THE YEAR, MR. BASS  AND BIG BASS FOR THE YEAR WILL BE CONCLUDED AT THE END OF THE LAKE ERIE TOURNAMENT BEING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 10 AND 11, 2005.
     

  • THE FISH-OFF FOR THE MONEY WILL BE HELD AT LAKE ERIE ON SEPTEMBER 24 AND 25, 2005.  RAMP AND TIMES ALREADY NOTED ON SCHEDULE.
     

  • ONE-HALF OF THE TOTAL POT WILL BE PAID OUT EACH TOURNAMENT DAY.  THREE PLACES WILL BE PAID EACH DAY ON 50-30-20 % BASIS (1ST, 2ND, 3RD PLACES).  EXAMPLE:  IF THE TOTAL POT = $ 600.00 THEN $ 300.00 WILL BE PAID EACH DAY WITH 1ST PLACE GETTING $ 150.00, 2ND PLACE $ 90.00, 3RD PLACE $ 60.00.
     

  • TO QUALIFY FOR THE FISH-OFF, EACH PARTICIPANT MUST :
     

    • FISH AT LEAST HALF OF THE SCHEDULED TOURNAMENT DAYS (FIVE OR MORE)

    • WORK AT LEAST A HALF DAY AT THE ALUM CREEK OPEN.

    • PAY $ 50.00  UP TO THE FIRST CLUB TOURNAMENT FISHED FOR THE YEAR.
       

  • NED SHULL WILL COLLECT MONEY AND KEEP TRACK OF PARTICIPANTS.
     

  • DAN DIETZ WILL DEPOSIT MONEY IN CLUB TREASURY AND DISPERSE WINNINGS.
     

  • ALL REGULAR CLUB TOURNAMENT RULES WILL APPLY TO THE FISH-OFF EXCEPT POINT SCORING AND BIG BASS FOR THE YEAR.
     

  • FOR 2005, IF THERE IS AT LEAST 80 BOATS IN THE CLUB’S OPEN TOURNAMENT, THEN THE BOAT RAFFLE “PROFIT” WILL BE ADDED TO THE FISH-OFF MONIES.
